Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette

Dear readers,

today I'm going to review the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette. It arrived in the mail last week but because I'm feeling ill it took me over a week to put this article together.

Anastasia about this palette:
An essential eye shadow collection, Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette features 14 shades that range from grungy mattes to bold metallics with an underground edge. Complement to best-selling Modern Renaissance Palette. '

This is my second product from Anastasia ever. I wanted to try something new and different and since BeautyBay just started to sell this palette I decided to buy it and give it a try. I have heard a lot about this palette online and I have seen a lot of beauty gurus use this palette. I still didn't know what to expect from it because some products get really hyped and aren't that good.

When it first arrived I was impressed by the packaging, the palette itself has a suede top. I'm also impressed by the brushes that are included with this palette, they're high quality! I normally don't even look at the brushes or sponge tip applicators included with palettes because they're not that good. So this was a nice surprise.

I was also very impressed with the pigmentation of the shadows themselves. I swatched them without a base to show the quality of the shades by themselves. They're highly pigmented, you only need a little bit for an intense look. ' Cube'  and ' Electric'  are less pigmented than the other shadows.
I do find the shadows a bit hard to blend because they're so pigmented. It easily becomes one dark blur instead of an eyelook with gradient. I also think these shadows are a bit too powdery. Which means I have to clean up under my eyes after I finish my eyelook.

Overall I'm happy that I bought the palette but I wouldn't recommend it. Yes it's contains super pigmented eyeshadows but it takes a lot of skill to properly work with them. Also I don't think the shadows themselves are worth €50, a lot of the price is in the palette and brushes themselves and that's not why I buy an eyeshadow palette.

What do you think about this palette?
